Where the Pacific
shapes your thinking.

NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK
— About the Grounds
A National Historic Landmark designed for deep thought
Asilomar Conference Grounds was established in 1913 by the YWCA and designed by architect Julia Morgan — the same visionary behind Hearst Castle. Tucked into the Monterey Peninsula between Pacific Grove and the Pacific Ocean, the grounds weave together 107 acres of sand dunes, coastal pines, and historic Arts & Crafts buildings. The space is intentionally removed from the noise of convention centers and hotel conference rooms. Horizon has chosen Asilomar precisely because the environment demands presence — and presence is where strategy is made.

HORIZON SEATS
— The grounds
Photographed, not imagined
— The experience
The setting is part of the agenda
Asilomar State Beach
One mile of dramatic Pacific coastline directly adjacent to the grounds. Rocky coves, open sandy stretches, surfers at dawn.
The Pacific on your doorstep
The beach is popular with surfers and kayakers. The Asilomar Coast Trail runs ¾ of a mile along the shoreline.
Julia Morgan's craftsman cottages
Stay within the grounds in the original 1913 Arts & Crafts guest lodges. No commute. Every conversation continues past the agenda.
The main hall
Asilomar's historic auditorium — vaulted timber ceiling, natural light, and none of the anonymous hotel ballroom energy.
Working sessions, done right
Rustic conference rooms with real character — the setting shifts how people engage. Good rooms produce good ideas.
Fire pit evenings
After the agenda ends, the conversation doesn't. Outdoor fire pits and picnic tables within the grounds keep the thinking going.
"Not a conference. A catalyst — in a place that makes thinking feel different."
